Nov. 9th, marked the beginning of the highly anticipated HiHorsed Tour, featuring two Atlanta hip-hop superstars Young Thug & 21 Savage. Through eleven months, 2016 has been a big year for both 21 and Thugga’s careers, as Young Thug released his sixth solo project JEFFREY following his third installment of his mixtape series, Slime Season 3. As for 21 Savage, he released his widely acclaimed joint mixtape with producing legend Metro Boomin, titled Savage Mode, in July of 2016, including platinum singles No Heart and X.
The two artists have combined hip hop forces for the HiHorsed Tour, which will produce 20 shows starting in Baltimore and heading all the way out to Santa Ana, California before concluding in New York City. As for the show in Baltimore on November 9th, the two superstars definitely lived up to the pre-tour hype. Starting at 8:00 p.m., opening acts YSL & Divine Counsel served their purpose, giving the crowd some energy before 21 Savage entered on stage at 9:00. 21 performed his hits from his solo project, Slaughter King (2016) before going on the perform the entirety of Savage Mode through the rest of his hour long set. At one point during his set, 21 dropped a very expensive ring, pleading with the audience to find it and return it to him. When a fan in the front row picked it up and returned it, security escorted him on stage for the remainder of the set.
Then, at 10:00, as 21 Savage performed his verse on Meek Mill’s “Offended” from his most recent studio album “DC4,” Young Thug came out to perform his verse as he was also featured on the track, and then proceeded to perform the entirety of his most recent project, JEFFREY, as well as many of the hits from his Slime Season trilogy. Thug’s hour and a half set included two wardrobe changes, a short film, and included some of his personal favorite tracks by other artists, including Chief Keef’s hit single, “Earned It.” As Thug’s set came to it’s end, he removed his chains and rings, only to dive into the crowd during his platinum single “Best Friend,” concluding the show.
The three plus hour show is full of raw star power, and is absolutely worth the general admission price of $50. Additionally, a meet and greet option was available for an extra $50 fee, which included the option to meet either 21 Savage or Young Thug, along with early admission, a tour shirt and more. All things considered, the Young Thug headlined HiHorsed Tour is well worth it’s price, and the theatrics along with the music is as good as expected by those who are fans of these rising stars in the hip hop industry.
