Greer Long is a senior at SPHS and has been a part of The Talon since she was a freshman. Long was news editor last year and is now beginning her first year as Editor-in-Chief. Long enjoys writing current event pieces, features articles and designing pages. Her hobbies include baking, drawing and criticizing pieces of writing. Long’s favorite thing to do outside of school is to try new foods and travel to new places.

As the holiday quickly approaches, many people scramble to find a costume just days before Halloween. Last year, numerous costumes were inspired by movies such as Avengers, Baywatch and The Purge. “Last year I wore a Purge costume one day and a cowgirl costume the next,” senior Lexi Kasten said.

This fall, the SPHS homecoming dance will be on Oct. 19. Many girls have already found dresses for the exciting night. “I had an idea to see if they were on this app I had called Poshmark… I ended up finding a dress for half the price it used to be,” senior Miriam Moghtader said.

Environmental movements such as “skipping the straw” have become prevalent in recent years.  “Most of the time meat and seafood produce tons of waste into the environment with pollution and plastic waste,” senior Grace O’Brien said.

 Sisters Miriam and Abby Moghtader are tennis stars who play the sport year-round. Both girls have been playing tennis since they were only five years old. “This tennis season I’m hoping to accomplish another undefeated season filled with hard work and a lot of fun from our close team,” Miriam Moghtader said.
