The Pokémon Hidden Fates set has been re-released to the public. This is great news for all Pokémon card collectors, since Hidden Fates was the best set of 2019. Around this time, there were increased pull rates of ultra-rares and secret-rares since the set had a wider variety of those specific cards compared to previous sets. This set also has shiny cards that did not count as the “rare” in a pack, meaning that there was a chance for double hitters. It is also another chance for collectors to pull the esteemed Full Art Shiny Charizard GX. The Charizard card is worth hundreds ungraded, and worth thousands of dollars if the card is given a high enough grade by grading companies like PSA or Beckett.

Cards are graded on a scale of 1-10 based on centering, corners, edges, and surface. These grades are also named as well. When looking at Beckett, a score of 9 means the card is “Mint,” a 9.5 means “Gem Mint,”, and a score of 10 means “Pristine.” The labels at the top also indicate the grade, a “Mint” has a silver label, and a “Gem Mint” has a gold label. A “Pristine” either receives a gold or black label, depending on the individual grades of the four categories, which are graded on the same 1-10 scale. To receive the black label, all four categories must have a score of 10, the card must be perfect. However, if the card is averaged as a 10, then the card receives a gold label, (Ex: Three categories receive a 10 while one category receives a 9.5).

All cards must be shipped to Beckett by mail. According to the step-by-step submission form guide on Beckett.com, “Clearly print your name and shipping address in the space provided. Please note, we are unable to ship to P.O. Boxes. It is important to provide a contact number and email address in the event we have questions regarding your order. You will also automatically receive status updates regarding your submission via email. You may list additional items on subsequent forms or a separate sheet of paper, such as a spreadsheet. Please write the page number at the top right-hand corner of each page.” To learn more about the process, go to the Beckett Grading Website.

The best places to get the re-release of Hidden Fates is Target and Walmart. It is time to catch’em all Pokémon trainers.
