  • Go apple picking: These crunchy delicious fruits have been ripening for weeks and are just waiting for you to come and pick them. Apple picking is a great time to unwind and be off the grid for a little while. Apples can also be baked into wonderful pies and treats. And you know what they say, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.”
  • Build a Bonfire: On a chilly fall night, there isn’t a better feeling than sitting around the fire with people you enjoy most. As the smoke swirls up into the night you can cook warm s’mores and listen to music or just talk with friends.
  • Go Hiking: Walking through forests of old oak and maple trees while they glow with orange and gold fall color is the best. In western Maryland, places like the Appalachian trail and Sugar Loaf Mountain offer spectacular views of the autumn landscape transforming below.
  • Carve a pumpkin: One of the most iconic things about fall is Halloween. Part of this awesome candy sharing tradition is carving pumpkins. Get out a knife and carve up a scary face to scare trick or treaters on Oct. 31.
  • Watch a football game: Whether it’s the NFL, college or your local high school football team, watching football is as American as apple pie, and the perfect time to do it is fall. The chilly afternoons and evenings make tailgating with friends perfect
  • Go driving in the country: It doesn’t get much better than driving on back roads past farms and a back drop of crimson and yellow trees, then when the sun goes down. Lay down, grab a blanket and watch the skies for shooting stars.
  • Drink coffee, tea or apple cider: Curling up with your favorite book and a hot drink on a cloudy fall day is one of the best feelings in the world.  Fall is the perfect temperature to enjoy a hot drink.
