The SPHS volleyball team starts practicing from the middle of August and goes until November. “Just the mental aspect of keeping at the top of your game is the toughest thing,” Dunbar said. The team needs to focus on their training, and for long term practice and games the ability to stay focused is necessary. Because volleyball doesn’t have a time limit, matched skill levels can make games go for two hours or more, it makes the mental endurance for the players to constantly be at the top of their game a necessary skill.

The Falcons enjoyed a winning Covid-19 season last spring and have won all four of their games this season. The Ten Rings were an underground terrorist organization in the movie, led by Shang-Chi’s father, Wenwu. The villainous organization first appeared in “Iron Man 3” and it shares the name of Wenwu’s most powerful weapon, also called the Ten Rings. The organization, along with Wenwu, have ruled the world in secret for years, following Wenwu’s command.

Karah Parks started teaching long before she became a teacher, mentoring other students even when she was still in high school. She recently graduated college and got her teaching certification to return to SPHS and create a fun environment for students to learn. “I love working with students and I love sharing my passion for reading and writing with the students I work with,” Parks said.

Seniors have the opportunity to leave school early in order to earn credits from AACC classes, partake in an internship, make some money or participate in a sport. With a shortened schedule, senior Paige Savani feels she is remaining productive and getting just as much done as if she remained at school for the entire school day, while still having fun. “Leaving school early definitely has its benefits like being able to work longer shifts and take college classes during the day so you are done when a normal school schedule would be ending,” Savani said. When I leave school, I almost never go home, I either go to work, AACC classes or I get breakfast with my friends.
