When looking to adopt a new animal it can be difficult to figure out what kind of animal to get that will fit the adopters lifestyle.
Just like humans, different animals have different needs and it is very important that their needs are met in order for them to have a fun and healthy life.
If the person looking to adopt is busy or works outside of their home, then a dog might not be the best option considering most need to be walked multiple times throughout the day.
However, just because someone is busy doesn’t necessarily mean that they can’t have a dog. Older dogs or dogs with smaller legs don;t need long walks which leaves time for other plans. Along with this if the adopter were to adopt another dog then they could entertain each other but two dogs can be harder to take care of then one.
Another option for somebody who doesn’t have a lot of time to take care of someone else is a cat. Cats are very independent and most don’t struggle when left alone. They are perfectly fine with sleeping all day but are also very loyal and love their owners.
On the other hand, for those with more active lifestyles who like running, walking or going on hikes, a dog such as an Australian shepard or a labrador retriever would be great. They have a lot of energy and they are very loyal and friendly. They love to run and go on adventures which is perfect for people who like to do those things as well.
Another option for people who live in a small house or an apartment are rabbits. Rabbits don’t take up a lot of space and they don’t have to go outside. They are lower maintenance than dogs and cats. They are great companions and are nice and quiet which is good for those who don’t want a loud animal in their home like a husky.
It is very important to consider where the animals that are adopted will be living, chow cows in Florida are never a good combination because they’re thick coats are meant for cold and snowy climates. So it is crucial to understand the animals needs when it comes to the weather and the area.
Of course there are other things to consider such as budget and current pets but these are the biggest factors when adopting.
