As the Class of 2025 prepares to toss their caps and step into adulthood, many seniors at SPHS have been reflecting on the dreams they once held as wide-eyed kids.
From astronauts to zookeepers, ballerinas to superheroes, the ambitions of childhood often painted a world full of wonder and infinite possibility.
“I wanted to be a veterinarian because I really loved animals” senior Kelsey Sparkman said. Today, Sparkman plans to pursue a degree in business.
For some, their dreams have shifted with time and experience. Senior Brandon Chisholm used to imagine himself as a ”famous singer” he recalls. “Now I’m going into actuarial science to be an actuary.”
Looking back, many seniors recognize that childhood dreams, while sometimes whimsical, were an early expression of who they are. “I wanted to be an interior designer” senior Brooke Testerman said, now Testerman plans to major in nursing.
For many seniors, these childhood dreams are more than just funny memories—they’re emotional markers of who they were, and who they hoped to become. The Class of 2025 stands on the brink of writing their next chapter. Though their paths may differ from what they imagined as children, the dreams they once held continue to shape who they are becoming. Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about who we wanted to be—it’s about who we’re becoming, and the journey in between.
