From May 16 to May 18, the drama department will present its performance of “Clue.” The show follows Spencer Mann as Wadsworth the butler while he tries to figure out who is the murderer. “It’s pretty classic ‘whodunit?’ based on the hit board game—which you probably haven’t heard of—‘Clue,’” senior Ruby Howland said. “There are of course the six colorful bumbling idiots, and then the butler and the maid and pretty much everyone else is a side character. There’s a bunch of police officers, there’s poor Brooke who is the singing telegram girl who comes on for… not even a full line, part of a line, and then dies and that’s it.”
Howland is highly involved with the drama department, as a leader in the stage crew and sometimes acting as well. In “Clue,” Howland has several roles, encapsulating both of those types of involvement. “I am in the cast [as the cook], I am the set designer and I am the stage manager, and it was way too much,” Howland said.
The cast and crew of “Clue” has been practicing throughout April and May, and they have had to overcome difficulties. “It was very challenging, making the set because it was just high schoolers; we didn’t have any adults…” Howland said. “So doing the engineering, the design and figuring out construction for all of that with just me, Luke and Kassel was not fun. And the set is definitely very janky, but it looks good and that’s what counts. I’m surprised it actually managed to come together decent enough.”
The show will be held on May 16 and 17 at 7 p.m. and May 18 at 2 p.m. “Tickets are $5,” Howland said.
