On Sunday, Feb. 4, the Grammy awards ceremony took place, and musical artists were rewarded in categories like Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist.
Nominations for Album of the Year included albums such as “Short n’ Sweet” by Sabrina Carpenter, with tracks like “Espresso” and “Please Please Please” that went viral in 2024. “Hit Me Hard and Soft” by Billie Eilish with the hit song “BIRDS OF A FEATHER” was also nominated. “Brat” by Charli XCX was nominated too with hit songs like “Apple” and “360.” Other nominees for this category included Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Chappell Roan, Andre 3000 and Jacob Collier.
Beyonce won Album of the Year for the first time with her album “Cowboy Carter” after being nominated four times before and losing to other albums. In her speech she said, “I just feel very full and very honoured, it’s been many, many years.” Along with this she was the first black woman to ever win country album of the year. With 11 nominations this year she became the most nominated artist in Grammy history having a total of 99 nominations throughout her career.
Nominations for Song of the Year featured artists like Kendrick Lamar, Sabrina Carpenter, Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars, Billie Eilish, Shaboozey, Beyonce, Chappell Roan and Taylor Swift.

Kendrick Lamar won this category with his hit song “Not Like Us.” Along with song of the year, “Not Like Us” also won four other categories, Record of the Year, Best Rap Song, Best Music Video and Best Rap Performance. “Not Like Us” is also the first diss track to win any major Grammy awards.
The Best New Artist award went to Chappell Roan, who won against other nominees such as Sabrina Carpenter, Shaboozey, Doechii, Benson Boone and more. She dropped the album “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess” in 2023 and the single “Good Luck, Babe!” in 2024 which was a hit.

Sabrina Carpenter won best pop vocal album for her album “Short n’ Sweet.”
Doechii won best rap album for her mix tape “Alligator Bites Never Heal.” Doechii was the third black woman to win this award after Lauryn Hill in 1999 and Cardi B in 2019.
Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga won best pop duo performance for their hit song “Die With a Smile.”
