Many colleges visit high schools each year to help students learn more about their academic and career options after graduation. One of these visits included Towson University, which recently came to Severna Park High School to speak with students about the opportunities available at their campus and how to apply efficiently . The event took place in the College and Career center with Mrs. Jackson, who helped organize the visit.
During the presentation, Towson University advisors discussed several key aspects of college life, including the variety of academic programs, student support services, and extracurricular activities. Students were able to hear firsthand about Towson’s wide range of majors and minors, as well as resources available to help them succeed both inside and outside the classroom. The advisor also emphasized the importance of getting involved on campus, explaining how joining clubs, sports teams, or volunteer organizations, “We have over 250 different clubs and organizations and we have D1 sports…It is a great college atmosphere ”, Dan Zawacki said, can help students develop leadership skills and build lasting connections.
In addition to academics, the advisor spoke about what makes Towson’s campus community special. Towson university prides itself on creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students. The advisor described the vibrant campus culture, highlighting students’ events, social activities, and the university’s strong sense in school spirit. After the presentation, students had the opportunity to ask questions about the admissions process, scholarships, housing and other aspects of college life. Many students found the visit helpful in understanding what colleges look for in applicants and how to prepare for the transition from high school to college.
