The AI Twitch streamer Neuro-Sama taking the crown of longest Hype Train on Jan. 2 raises a few questions on the future of entertainment. With AI growing, and being integrated into what feels like everything in our lives, it would only be time before someone would turn it into an influencer. So, when Vedal987 decided to connect an AI model to be able to interact with a live stream, speak, and read and react to the chat, all connected to a cute VTuber mascot, it would have to go viral.
A VTuber is a type of content creator or live streamer who uses a rigged 2D or 3D digital avatar, tracked to their real life movements to represent themselves online. Because of the malleable nature of a VTuber avatar, and Vedal’s code for an AI live steamer, Neuro-Sama became one of the first completely AI influencers.
One feature that the live streaming platform Twitch has is the Hype Train feature, where the community can give back to the streamer via donations and other interactions, which raises the Hype Train level. The previous record was held by the streamer Pirate Software, at level 106, but on Jan. 2, Vedal and Neuro-Sama’s hype train hit level 111, beating the record and making the current record held by an AI.
