A growing number of students are turning to artificial intelligence tools to help with homework, studying, and writing assignments, sparking new conversations about how technology is reshaping education. From generating study guides to explaining difficult math problems, AI has quickly become a common resource both in and out of the classroom.
Many students say these tools make learning more efficient. Instead of spending hours stuck on one problem, they can get step-by-step explanations in seconds.
“It helps me actually understand things instead of just giving up,” a sophomore, Danyella Hibshman, shares.
Others use AI to organize notes, brainstorm ideas, or prepare for tests.
Teachers, however, have mixed opinions. Some see AI as a helpful support tool when used responsibly, while others worry it could lead to over-reliance or even academic dishonesty. As a result, some classes have begun setting clear guidelines on when and how it can be used.
The rise of AI has also raised bigger questions about the future of education. Should schools embrace these tools as part of learning, or limit their use to protect academic integrity? Many educators believe the answer lies somewhere in between, teaching students how to use AI as a tool, rather than a shortcut.
Coach Dean, a physical education teacher and girls varsity basketball coach, believes, “AI is going to stay around so might as well become educated on how to use it…it isn’t going away anytime soon”.
As technology continues to evolve, one thing is clear, AI is not going away. How students and schools choose to adapt may shape the future of learning for years to come.
