As the school year winds down and the temperature begins to grow, summer bucket list ideas are becoming the topic of many conversations. Summer bucket lists are different for everyone, varying from traveling around the world to being in the backyard of your own home. This summer is here to build memories and to make the most of these hot sunny days ahead of us. Every single memory made will last a lifetime and be remembered forever.
For some students, when the name “summer bucket lists” is brought up, they are already ready to board that plane and travel the world around us. Jolene Robertson, an 11th grader, plans to travel to the sea and head off to the “Turks and Caicos Islands.” This island journey is somewhere everyone dreams about. The water emits its crystal clear sparkles across your eyes while surrounded by the perfect weather. Jolene is excited to “go snorkeling and experience this beautiful island,” which she plans to walk upon this summer. Similarly, Angie Callaham, also an 11th grader, plans to stamp her passport and travel down the coast to Florida, then travel further south to Jamaica. Angie doesn’t have distinct plans on what she wants to do yet, but that is no problem. Going on trips in the summer is the perfect time to explore a new place without a plan to get the ultimate experiences. Angie wants to try something new while in Jamaica, which is to swim with pigs. Angie shares, “I want to try something new and swim with pigs.” Angie is ready for the ultimate travelling experience this summer!
On the other end of the spectrum, some students prefer to stay close to home and spend their summer right in their home zip code. Racheal Blizzard, an 11th grader, plans to spend part of her summer painting with her mom. Racheal says, “Painting with my mom allows me to spend quality time with her and be creative together.” For Racheal, these simple moments at home are just as fun as putting another stamp in your passport, but instead of creating memories traveling, she finds these memories with the people you love most. Just like Racheal’s plans, Ella Stoudt, also an 11th grader at SPHS, plans to stay close to home this summer and give her time to the community and people around her. Ella wants to work at a summer camp called “Quiet Waters Day Camp.” Ella notes, “I like to work with kids and gain experience teaching.” By leading many crafts and outdoor activities, Ella will be turning her passion for working with kids into a fun, rewarding summer experience.
When the final bell rings on the last day of school for the 2026 year, think about your summer plans and what they will consist of. Whether it’s staying close to home or traveling around the world, make it a moment to remember!
