“Obsession” and “The backrooms” are both films that came out within two weeks of each other. Both have directors that are in their 20s, and they are both horror, physiological movies. The question is, which one is better?
“Obsession” is about a man who likes his friend, however, she doesn’t like him back. He ends up making a wish and it comes true, but not in the way that he wants. She becomes possessed by the wish and is attached to everything he does, she starts staying the night at his house, and becomes increasingly creepy. Watching him while he sleeps, cooking his cat, taping his door shut so he can’t get out. She even went to great lengths to hurt other people.
“The Backrooms” is about a mattress store owner who is sullen, and lives at the store. The store is annoying because the lights always go out and sometimes the TV shows weird things. One night the lights go out and he finds a room behind a basement wall with endless hallways that all look the same. He becomes obsessed with the hallways and asks other people to help him explore it, which ends badly, and he ends up getting stuck there. His therapist tries to find him, and what she sees is not good.
Opening weekend, “Obsession” made $17 million and “The Backrooms” made $81 million. Which one is better? If you ask me, I would say Obsession, most people said that The Backrooms was confusing, and didn’t have a good plot. While Obsession was easy to follow and had an amazing plot.
