In addition to students donating monetary donations directly to their 1A as a part of the 1A bracket competition, students are able to donate to Harvest for the Hungry with non-perishable food donations. “Harvest for the Hungry is a county wide initiative that is kind of like a competition between schools, too, where they invite all the schools to raise a bunch of money and or raise a bunch of food,” Williams said. “Some schools do pounds of food. We are one of the schools that takes monetary and food donations.”

Deciding which animal is best for you

It’s based on a book by William Petter Blatty inspired from an actual 1949 exorcism done by a Jesuit priest, William S. Bowdern. “In horror movies I like the jumpscares and the way it twists your mind,” junior Ella Stoudt said.

Junior Jolene Robertson reads her English book in the auditorium during Gold Block. “They used to be a little more lenient on talking in the auditorium but then it got to be too much, so they made it a fully quiet zone for studying which I like a lot more,” Robertson said. It is also required to present your grades to a teacher prior to entering the auditorium for Falcon Block.

Around 4:20 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, Severna Park High School senior Shubh Agnihotri and Congressional candidate John Morse stand near the Pip Moyer Recreation Center in downtown Annapolis as they regroup after knocking on 44 doors together. “You can always be an asset to your community if you work hard enough to do it, so I really encourage you to look around about the stuff you really care about,” Agnihotri said. Agnihotri coordinated the Young Democrats meeting which John Morse attended to inform youth voters about his policies and the importance of voting/registering to vote.

Hi I’m Ella Stoudt, a junior at Severna Park high school. I am in the SPHS marching band, I love writing for The Talon, and I spend most of my time hanging out with friends and family. In the future I aspire to write for a newspaper and hopefully work as an elementary school teacher.
