Every student’s favorite time of the school year is around the corner, where they get almost half of the month off to spend the holidays with their family and friends to open presents, eat cookies, drink hot chocolate, and not worry about the stresses that school puts on students. 

But what actually happens during these off times at the school? Though students may not want to think about school during break, a lot of interesting things do happen inside the building during winter this time, including teachers getting ready for the next year, school decorations being put up and some funny yet unexpected moments.

Transitioning after winter break can lead to students feeling “rusty” since they’ve haven’t been in the school in over two weeks. Also, the next semester is right around the corner, so students transition away from their old schedules into the new one.

“It’s a big transition to get back into the mindset of something we’ve been doing for months, and then we only have two weeks before the new semester starts, so it’s a big change” Gotshall said. “Everyone’s classes changes, so everyone has to get used to everything again.”

“It’s a really short amount of time before the semester is over after winter break, so they have to make sure their grades are good and that they’ve got all their assignments done” Meadows said.
