Lilly Spilker, Co-Editor in Chief

Lilly Spilker is a senior at SPHS and is Co-Editor in Chief of the Talon. Spilker enjoys spending time with friends and family, especially outside. She loves reading, boating, listening to music, playing sports and going to concerts. Spilker plays lacrosse, soccer, and basketball and plans to play lacrosse at Penn State next year.

Kid Cudi is a popular rapper and singer, especially among teenagers. He performed at Captial One Arena on September 8, and many Severna Park students attended, including seniors Ashlyn Morris and Rylan McDonald. “The Kid Cudi concert was so fun,” Morris said. “He was a great performer and I enjoyed being with so many of my friends.”

Lonny Earhart, owner of Pasadena video game store I Got Next: Retro Toys and Game, shared with students how he came to own a store front and his journey in the retail space. It was a lot harder to find space than I thought, we started in December, and didnt sign a lease until August Earhart said.

Entrepreneurial Fair Comes to Severna Park

After having two seasons affected by Covid-19, Severna Park spring sports teams are looking forward to starting up again. Tryouts start March 1 and there are many competitive athletes who will be working to make an impact for their team this spring. “My freshman year our season ended just two weeks after tryouts and last season was not exactly normal,” junior lacrosse player Liv Tramontana said. “So I’m just excited to get back into the swing of things and enjoy time with my teammates.”

School last year was anything but normal, but Falcon students finally returned to the classrooms this semester. Many are enjoying the high school experience that they have continuously hoped for. “This semester was very fun,” junior Liv Tramontana said. “I was able to get back to learning in person and could play sports and do projects and activities with my friends. It felt like normal.”

After losing many important moments last year, Falcons are finally enjoying being able to support their school in various activities. With Covid-19 on the rise again, many students hope this sense of fun and normalcy isn’t taken away from them. “I hope we don’t go back to online school,” junior Sophia Miller said. “I’ve enjoyed seeing friends everyday this year and watching games. I hope we don’t have to miss out on these activities again.”

Covid-19’s Potential Threat to Normal Life

The Falcons enjoyed a winning Covid-19 season last spring and have won all four of their games this season. They look forward to winning more games and having a successful season. “Our first game was probably one of the most memorable moments, leading up to it after Covid,” kicker Trey Smack said. “Opening up with a win.”

Thanksgiving looked different for many students this year, We were originally planning on going to New Jersey this year like we’ve done in the past,” sophomore Kate Evans said. “But we have decided to stay home because we have to be cautious of my grandparents’ health with the pandemic. We are going to be doing our first Thanksgiving on our own this year which is definitely different.”
